Disposable Cables for Temporary Storage

Temperature cables may be added to any temporary grain storage whether, whether a tarp covered ground pile or in a flat storage building. Ground piles may be round or rectangular, covered while filling or covered after filling.

Disposable cables consist of jacketed thermocouple temperature sensors, but do not have embedded steel wire rope which is used in a cable suspended from an overhead structure. Disposable cables are fully supported by the grain mass in which they are embedded.

Typical Section “A” – “A”
Step 1 – Fill to first cable height. Lay cable on Safe-Grain, Inc. specified centerlines on the grain and pull the leadwire with reading plug to the outside wall.

Step 2 = Fill to the second cable height. Lay (2) sensor cables on Safe-Grain, Inc. specified centerlines on the grain, and pull each leadwire with reading plug to the outside wall.

Step 3 – Fiill to final product depth. Cover with tarp. Read cables on outside of wall with portable instrument. Each cable has a 12-ft [3.67m] radius coverage pattern within 24 – 72 hours.

Unloading Temporary Grain Storage

When unloading a temporary structure with disposable cables, the cables are simply cut with a handheld cutter and discarded in the trash. Amphenol reading plugs on the end of the cables may be saved if cut with a 1-ft [.3m] leadwire tail, returned to Safe-Grain, and used again when you need temporary storage.
